Spring Craziness....

Aww the chase of springtime and all the kids and their activities.   It's such a fun time of the year with school winding down, flowers popping up all over, and kids running here and there so thankful to be outside and feeling that little bit of warmth that promises more is on the way.   We had another very eventful several months.

Our spring craziness actually starts in December with Abi and her volleyball.   At tryouts, Abi was pretty nervous.   They mix the teams up every year it seems and so she was worried about being with some of her same teammates from last year.   When I picked her up she was in tears even though she had made the highest team for her age group, she had no friends on her team.  Not one that she even knew.  She was the only one on the team from her school, the rest were scattered from the south end of the valley.  I told her that she would make a lot of good friends and that maybe this is exactly where she needed to be.   As the season rolled on, we soon learned that yes indeed she was EXACTLY where she needed to be. She made fast close friends and they were soon a very close team.  Her coach was absolutely AMAZING!  We could not have asked for a better coach.   She coaches at Mountain Crest so she definitely knew what she was doing.  She spent so much time with these girls, pushing them to their max, teaching them, motivating them, and also being a friend.   The other teams would kind of mumble to Abi that her coach was too hard on them....making them run laps, do lunges, pushups, etc., but Abi knew the logic behind it and did all she was asked of never complaining.

At the beginning of the season, Abi wasn't playing as much as she was used to and we couldn't really figure it out other than the coach knew some of the other girls better from coaching them.  But Abi worked so hard and pretty soon the coach started noticing.  She would have Abi fill in at different positions when they were missing players and Abi rose to the occasion every time....never letting her team down.  Pretty soon it was obvious Abi was rising to the top.  The coach started playing her more and more and told Abi she had earned her spot.  Some of the better players started softball and weren't always at practice and the coach rewarded Abi at every turn.  There were many tournaments that Abi played the entire time while some of the top girls on the team sat out.   She moved Abi into the middle blocker position and kept her there.   Some of the girls started being a little caddy towards Abi and the coach pulled her aside and told her to not listen to them and to hold her head high because she deserved to be a starter.   She really had an amazing season and we were so sad to see it come to an end.....so sad to say goodbye to such an incredible coach.   We are so proud of you Abi and your dedication and hard work.  You are amazing and it is so fun to watch you.

While volleyball is in full swing, Lacrosse starts with full intensity.  It's definitely hard to keep up with all of them and thank goodness for great neighbors that can help out when we need to be 3-4 places at the same time.  If the boys liked lacrosse before, this season they have fell head over heels in love with it.   They both had great seasons and are both so fun to watch.  It's really cool to see how different their personalities are and how that comes out while playing lacrosse.  They both did a fantastic job and we couldn't be prouder of them.   It's hard work and the practices are intense but they love it and it's great to have them be part of such an amazing organization with great coaches.   Way to go boys!

J.D. was asked to play in the All-Star game in SLC at the end of the season.  He was pretty excited and it was such an honor for him.  They take the top kids from each team and then form two teams that play against each other.   J.D.'s team won and it was just a really fun game.  He made some new friends and can't wait to see them next season and be able to know some of the kids he's playing against.  It was a great way for J.D. to end the season.  The week before he had to miss the very last game and he was heartbroken.  His heart started going crazy again like it has in the past and he wasn't able to go.  He ended up having strep again and it took a good 12-15 hours after the strep shot for his heart rate to slow down.  So that was tough on him to miss his last game, but his team was seriously so adorable and started their game with "JD" as their team cheer and played the game for him.  It made his day.  Here are some pics from the All Star game.  photo credits to my amazing girl...Abi

And I made him wear his neon pink socks so I could find him!

The end-of-year Lacrosse party was a blast and the kids had a great time.  Can't go wrong with the red neck water slide, food, and good friends.  We had such great coaches this year and we are so grateful for all the hours put in on behalf of our kids.

Meili is also doing her own thing and loving it.  Tavaci is definitely her favorite and her year end recital ended up being on one of those days we needed to be a million different places.  Our wonderful neighbor and friend offered to get her to rehearsal and also the recital and meet us there.  We barely made it back in time from a volleyball tournament in Provo to see our sweet little performer.  It really brings her so much joy to be on stage and singing her little heart out.  The weather was crazy that day and I felt bad Heather had to worry about getting them everywhere they needed to be with the crazy wind and rain.  And the most amazing moment????  She actually stopped in the pounding rain to take the most ADORABLE picture ever of our two girls.  In fact, we didn't get too many other pics that day but it's okay because this one picture sums up pretty much everything from that day.....and look at that JOY on these little ones faces.  Thank you Heather!!!!
Meili is also doing so well in ballet.  She is a little ballerina that's for sure!

J.D. also did great in the Greenville Mile this year.  He finished 7th in his grade and had a fabulous time.
