Nick's 10th Birthday.....



Happy Birthday to my little Nickster!!  What a great kid Nick is and what a huge heart he has.  Just a couple of endearing things that I noticed about Nick this year.  He is very generous with others and loves to see others happy.  At school they have an auction where they earn school bucks and then they can spend them.  At one of the auctions, there was a boy in his class who got quite teary because he didn't have enough money to buy anything.  Nick decided he would just buy something small and give the rest of his money to this little boy.  It made my day when I heard about this....it's always better to give than to receive.










Since my diagnosis with celiac disease, Nick has been very protective of me.  He's always watching what I eat and makes sure it is gluten free.  If I have a drink and he wants a sip, he will make sure that whatever he just ate is gluten free for fear of getting any trace amount of gluten on the straw.   When we were planning his birthday dinner date with mom and dad, he was very considerate as he chose where to go.  He wanted to make sure that wherever he chose, I would be able to eat something there.  He asked me one day if I wondered why he was so protective of me.... he told me it was because he loves me and doesn't want me to be sick or die.  What a total sweetheart this little one is.  And those big chocolate eyes would melt anyone's heart!  Here's a picture of Nick riding the saddle at Texas Roadhouse!  It was awesome!


Nick also had a little party with a few friends for his birthday.  It wasn't a year for a "big party" but he managed to have a few friends come for pizza and a late night.  They had a great time.....but silly mom forgot to take pictures.  We also had a family party Sunday night and Nick once again chose a non-traditional dessert.  He's not my big cake eater that's for sure so I told him we could do whatever he wants... we can make up our own rules, you don't HAVE to have a birthday cake, right?  We decided on peppermint brownie sundaes (of course he made sure i could make gluten free brownies) with homemade hot fudge sauce.  Delish!!

Meili's 6th Birthday...

Meili's only request this year was to spend her birthday in Bear Lake.  That was not a problem.  Since it was also Raspberry Days that weekend, my family planned to come spend a fun-filled weekend with us.  Russel and I decided to come the night before and bring the three little kids with us.  We thought it would be super fun to go down to the KOA and rent a 6-person bike and ride around town.  It was a little harder than we thought since Russel and I were pretty much the man power.  We kept telling the kids to start pulling their weight and get pedaling!  JD kept complaining a little that his heart was hurting.  Well he's definitely a little athlete so I'm just thinking he's being lazy.  I kept telling him to get his groove on and get moving. Girls, Girls, Girls....

So I have a lot of catching up to do in the blogging world. Several things have happened this month so I am devoting however long it may take today to get everything posted. This past weekend Abi invited 4 friends to go to the Nutcracker with her and Meili....of course Russel and I tagged along as well. We went to the matinee showing and beforehand they had a Sugar Plum Fairy Tea Party that was an absolute must. All the girls dressed up in fancy dresses and we had a great time. The tea party was decorated like a little girl's dream. Pink everywhere, sparkles covering everything, gooey pink sweet dessert, and many performers from the show mingling and taking pictures. Abi is truly blessed to have such good friends and this is only just a handful of them. The girls were so cute and had a great time. Beautiful Drive up Logan Canyon...

On Saturday, we decided to take a little drive up the canyon and look at the beautiful fall colors and my oh my were they gorgeous!! We've been up there twice this week and just can't get enough. This time we remembered the camera. :) The kids loved seeing the vibrant leaves. The drive is truly an hour of awesomeness. Plus it's always nice to know there's a very yummy fresh raspberry shake waiting for you....not to mention chocolate covered raspberries. Just a few of our favorite moments in Bear Lake. Here are a few of the "hundreds" of pics that Russel took. He has "trigger finger." I think I narrowed it down pretty good though.....although sometimes it's hard to tell if #95 looks better #3. :)
