One more box checked!
Whew! We made it to Guangzhou, yeah!! Today was a hurry up and wait day. It was beautiful though to be handed Meili's passport and feel the closeness of home. We can almost smell it....no, that was not it. Think Milky Way between Hyde Park and Smithfield and you'll catch the drift, code for any dairy people out there ;)... We enjoyed our short time in Taiyuan. We met four other couples who adopted this trip. These children are all so special. Their stories are all very similar.
Meili did great on the airplane.....her personality sure came through today. She was very very busy....up and down and all around. She about wore Julie out....not to mention Julie wasn't feeling entirely stable on the flight to begin with. Anyway, she was very cute and active.....she even decided it was okay to start liking some of the toys we brought with us. She did great and since it was her first airplane ride ever, it was fun to watch her look out the window and ramble on in Chinese about this and that. At first, she paid no attention to what was going on but then she knew something was up and started looking out the windows and jabbering. What a cutie she is.
We were thrilled to leave Taiyuan and were hoping that Guangzhou would be more family friendly and more convenient to explore. Well....we were more than pleasantly surprised. The hotel is amazing and beautiful and definitely deserves it's 4.5 star rating and the area is just perfect. Lots of areas to take Meili and the hotel is just perfect for accommodating children. We walked into the hotel after a long flight and decided that we might be able survive another week of being away. Julie has been a little homesick and it's so hard to be away from the kids so it was just a nice fresh place to bring our spirits up a little.
We got checked in and got the bags upstairs. We decided to order room service so we could give Meili a bath and get her to bed as she had no nap today and it was pretty late by the time we checked in. We actually might even watch a little movie tonight.
We so appreciate all the prayers, thoughts and well wishes sent our way. We continue to need all the prayers we can get. Meili is doing extremely well but still has hard times too. Tonight as we were praying with her, she folded her arms like we've been showing her. Then just a couple minutes after our prayer, she sat up in bed and folded her arms again. Julie prayed with her again and at the end, she said "amen." Very touching and oh how sweet that these little children can feel that love and know that they want that.
P.S. The photos aren't great today.....didn't take any with the big camera, just the iphone. The last one is when we got to the hotel and she grabbed this huge apple off the table in our room and just started devouring it. It was too cute and she ate the whole thing. And even said apple. She's adorable.
