Nick's 11th Birthday....

Nick is our November baby and thus it is always fun to see how close his birthday gets to Thanksgiving.  Every 7 years or so it even lands on the holiday....the last time being on our cruise in 2007 so he's due for another one here shortly.  This year his birthday was the day after Thanksgiving.  It worked out perfectly.  We had invited my side of the family up to Bear Lake for Thanksgiving and made a weekend of it.  Nick loved spending the day with his cousins and they had a great time.   It also made it extra special to have Grandma and Grandpa and his aunts and uncles there to help celebrate.



Of course he requested a Minecraft cake and I'm definitely not a cake decorator.  But after I got finished, he thought it was fabulous and that was good enough for me.

Nick is an awesome kid and is always concerned about others.  He loves to make people laugh and frequently does.   We are so lucky to have this sweet boy in our family.  He also received his Arrow of Light just before he turned 11.  This is the highest honor a cub scout can get.  He has now moved on to being a Scout....as opposed to a CUB scout.  Growing WAY too fast if you ask me.  OH and if you are wondering why we look a little strange, this was shortly before Halloween so everyone was supposed to dress up.  Nick was an old man (although he had to take his mask off to have his face painted) and Meili went as a ballerina so I threw on a tutu because I'm the princess ballerina's mother!

    Really, REALLY love your tutu in the picture. You should just make that part of your regular wardrobe. Adorable. Congratulations on the Arrow of Light--so exciting.

Meili's 6th Birthday...

Meili's only request this year was to spend her birthday in Bear Lake.  That was not a problem.  Since it was also Raspberry Days that weekend, my family planned to come spend a fun-filled weekend with us.  Russel and I decided to come the night before and bring the three little kids with us.  We thought it would be super fun to go down to the KOA and rent a 6-person bike and ride around town.  It was a little harder than we thought since Russel and I were pretty much the man power.  We kept telling the kids to start pulling their weight and get pedaling!  JD kept complaining a little that his heart was hurting.  Well he's definitely a little athlete so I'm just thinking he's being lazy.  I kept telling him to get his groove on and get moving. Girls, Girls, Girls....

So I have a lot of catching up to do in the blogging world. Several things have happened this month so I am devoting however long it may take today to get everything posted. This past weekend Abi invited 4 friends to go to the Nutcracker with her and Meili....of course Russel and I tagged along as well. We went to the matinee showing and beforehand they had a Sugar Plum Fairy Tea Party that was an absolute must. All the girls dressed up in fancy dresses and we had a great time. The tea party was decorated like a little girl's dream. Pink everywhere, sparkles covering everything, gooey pink sweet dessert, and many performers from the show mingling and taking pictures. Abi is truly blessed to have such good friends and this is only just a handful of them. The girls were so cute and had a great time. Beautiful Drive up Logan Canyon...

On Saturday, we decided to take a little drive up the canyon and look at the beautiful fall colors and my oh my were they gorgeous!! We've been up there twice this week and just can't get enough. This time we remembered the camera. :) The kids loved seeing the vibrant leaves. The drive is truly an hour of awesomeness. Plus it's always nice to know there's a very yummy fresh raspberry shake waiting for you....not to mention chocolate covered raspberries. Just a few of our favorite moments in Bear Lake. Here are a few of the "hundreds" of pics that Russel took. He has "trigger finger." I think I narrowed it down pretty good though.....although sometimes it's hard to tell if #95 looks better #3. :)
