Josh's Big 16th.....
It's crazy weird that my sweet little boy has turned into a driving, dating machine....well the dating not so much....yet! But soon! Josh is such a good boy and it's so fun to watch him enter this stage of his life. I'll admit it was pretty nerve wracking to just hand over the keys but he is a great driver and it has been a HUGE help to me. I just send him wherever I need and he's pretty much thrilled to do it.
We had a great few days of celebration We started out with a family birthday party about a week before his birthday. The McKenna clan all showed up and Josh even got his first kiss! And boy oh boy, he was thrilled ;)
On his actual birthday, we went and made it official and somehow they issued him his real full-on driver's license. CRAZY!! We met dad for lunch and the girls were lucky enough to join us. All during the lunch, Meili kept saying that Josh was her boyfriend....pretty darn cute.
Since 16 is a big year, we let Josh decide what to do for his birthday party. I had my ideas on the grand scale of things but when he came right down to it, he wanted to take a few friends to Bear Lake and spend a couple of days. So that's what we did. They had a great time.
Josh has such fun friends and they are all super cute boys. They are quite the wake boarders.
At the end we pulled out some double water skis and Skylar jumped at the chance to try it. He'd never been skiing..... what is this world coming to?? A wake boarding world!?! Anyway, it was hilarious to see him try to do some of his wake boarding tricks on the double skis....needless to say it didn't work so well.
Happy Birthday big boy! We are so proud of the young man you are. I still remember, like it was yesterday, those first few days in the hospital. I was amazed at the love I had for this sweet little baby. It was then that I realized being a mother was the most amazing thing I would ever experience. The peace and contentment I had holding this little blue eyed baby with massive amounts of blonde hair was indescribable. Even the nurses were smitten. :) I'm so grateful to be your mother and to watch you grow and learn. I know you have a strong testimony of the gospel and I love what's in your heart.
